My first Handmade Monday

I don't have any finished items to share with you all today, but you can be sure I'll keep you up to date with my progress!

I've always fancied having a go at knitting socks, but for one reason or another, I never have.  Probably because of the 5 needle palarva...so when my mother told me she'd found a pattern for socks using only 2 needles which she thought I might be interested in, I jumped at it.

And, seeing as how sleep was eluding me last night, I cast on at midnight!  Already I have the inch of K1 P1 rib done..

I'll be tucking this piece into my bag when I go off to work..the tunic and the blanket I'm also working on are just too big right now to take along with me (in my opinion) so the size of this sock is ideal for me to take and work on in my break!

There's actually no shortage of things I want to make..just picked up this book last week (cheap) which is full  of patterns.  My mum would like the koala, I like the snake and He loves monkeys...so I'll have to get started on these too!

And, because I like a challenge, and because I so thoroughly enjoyed the workshop Jill ran for card making...well, I'm going to stretch my mind a bit and try to make some cards.  This is such an interesting magazine to look through.

So inconsiderate of work to get in the way of crafting though, don't you think?  Fortunately, some things don't take too long to do..for instance, this pot!  A broken pot may not always be rubbish.. I'm really pleased with what I did with this one.. filled it with soil, a few hen and chicks, a stone for interest, and I used a broken brick to arrange it...hopefully, the plants will grow and trail around quite nicely!

Wishing you all a Happy Bank Holiday Monday!

  1. Good luck with your socks! Have a read of a couple of my blog entries from last month, you'll see what a pickle I got into! That having been said, I finally managed to do all the tricky bits correctly last night so am confident that by the end of the week I will have finally finished a pair. Lets check in with each other to see how we've got on xx

  2. Hey, Michele, welcome to Handmade Monday - it's great to 'see' you here. Look forward to see your knits, especially the wild animals. Good luck with the socks - as a pretty useless knitter, they are something I wouldn't even think about attempting. Hope you have a good week.
